Overnight Crime Report: Three Simple Robberies, Three Stabbings, Armed Robbery, Homicide, Property Snatching


The New Orleans Police Department saw nine crimes hit the city on Saturday (8.26). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to three stabbings, three simple robberies, armed robbery, homicide, and a property snatching. 

 

At 9:07AM, a 58-year-old man was involved in a verbal altercation on the 8700 block of Chef Menteur Hwy. At some point, the man was stabbed with a box cutter and the perp fled the scene. The NOPD stated that an arrested warrant has been filed, but released no details about the perpetrator. The victim’s current condition is unknown. 

 

A 47-year-old woman was sitting in her car on the 800 block of Jena St. at 11:55AM, when a subject opened an unlocked door and grabbed her purse from her lap. She briefly struggled with the subject over the purse, but lost grip and the perp fled with her bag on a brown bicycle. 

 

A 34-year-old woman was walking on the 3000 block of Pine St. at 3:16PM when an unknown man approached and demanded her purse. When she told the perp that she only had $18, the subject grabbed her and stuck an “unknown object” to her side before stealing her purse and fleeing the scene. 

 

On the 700 block of Canal St., two unknown men were involved in an altercation in the bathroom of a McDonald’s at 5:35PM. Both men received stab wounds, and were brought to the hospital. One man later died. 

 

At 8:02PM on the 8000 block of Trapier Ave., a 31-year-old woman got into a physical altercation with her husband, who stole her purse and cell phone. According to the MOL, the man refused to give the property back to his wife. 

 

At 10:10PM, a 61-year-old man was possibly stabbed his ex-girlfriend on the 8000 block of Chef Menteur Hwy. He refused to cooperate with police. 

 

At the intersection of Press and Chartres, an unknown man followed a 16-year-old female, two 17-year-old females; and an 18-year-old female to their car at 11:07PM. He demanded their money and property, and the victims complied before one of females pepper sprayed the perp. He dropped some of their property as a result, and then fled. 

 

A 34-year-old man and his girlfriend got into a verbal fight at 2:44AM on the 10 block of Shepard Ct. At some point the fight turned physical and the woman grabbed a kitchen knife and stabbed the man. He was taken to a hospital for treatment. His current condition is unknown. 

 

At 5:16AM, a 29-year-old woman was approached by an unknown man who grabbed her wallet and fled on the 600 block of Tchoupitoulas St.
