Overnight Crime Report: Suicide, Unclassified Death, Armed Robbery, Attempted Armed Robbery, Simple Robbery, Homicide


The New Orleans Police Department saw seven crimes hit the city on Sunday (9.10). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to suicide, unclassified death, armed robbery, shooting, attempted armed robbery, simple robbery, homicide. 

 

A 63-year-old man was found unresponsive by family members at 1:17PM on the 4700 block of S. Carrollton Ave. He died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. The victim was pronounced on scene by EMS. 

 

At 3:47PM, a 42-year-old man was found unresponsive by his roommate in his bedroom on the 1400 block of Jourdan Ave. He was pronounced on scene by EMS. 

 

A 35-year-old woman was picjed up by a female friend and daughter on the 3500 block of Higgins Blvd. At 6:39PM, an unknown man got into the car and demanded the woman's purse. She complied, and the perp the scene fled on foot. 

 

Two 31-year-old men were walking at the intersection of Willo and Josephine when they saw a perp armed with a "large assault rifle" at 11:50PM. The duo attempted to flee on foot as the subject opened fire. Both were shot, and brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their current conditions are unknown. 

 

At 11:51PM, a 50-year-old man and 37-year-old woman were approached by an unknown man at the intersection of Lesseps and St. Claude. The perp pointed a gun and demanded their property, at which time the woman fled the scene. The perp then ran off without their property.

 

A 27-year-old man was approached by two men at the intersection of St. Joseph and S. Peters at 1:15AM. The subjects reportedly punched him in the face, took his wallet, and then fled the scene. 

 

NOPD officers were dispatched to a disturbance to the 2800 block of Jackson Ave. at 3:32AM. Upon arrival, they found a woman approximately 40 years of age down on her back. EMS discovered she had been shot, and she was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died.
