Overnight Crime Report: Four Stabbings, Two Armed Robberies, Simple Robbery, Unclassified Death, Fatality, Rape

The New Orleans Police Department saw ten crimes hit the city on Saturday (9.2). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to two armed robberies, a simple robbery, unclassified death, four stabbings, a fatality, and a rape.

At 3:35AM, an unknown armed man approached a 25-year-old man on the 4300 block of Tchoupitoulas St. He put a knife to the victim’s throat and demanded his boots. He complied, and the subject fled.

While sitting in her car on the 1700 block of McShane Pl., a 34-year-old woman saw two men approach at 7:43AM. One of the men stopped at the rear of her car, while the other put a semi-automatic weapon to her window before opening her passenger door and stealing two cell phones, a key fob, and Kindle tablet. The perp then ordered she open the trunk, and the second subject went through it. The duo then fled the area in an unknown direction.

33-year-old Sharonda Richardson was arrested following a simple robbery on the 300 block of N. Peters St. At 8:39AM, a 25-year-old man accused Richardson of stealing his wallet, at which time an altercation ensued. Richardson then pepper sprayed the man and took his gold chain before getting in her car and fleeing the scene. She was arrested “without further incident.”

A 48-year-old woman arrived at her home on the 400 block of S. Scott St. at around midnight “severely intoxicated.” A friend went to check on her at around 11:43AM the following morning, and found her unresponsive and “cold to the touch.” NOPD does not suspect foul play at this time in the investigation.

At 7:28PM, a man came to meet his 45-year-old girlfriend on the 2100 block of Benefit St., at which time a verbal altercation occurred. The man cut the woman with a brown pocket knife, resulting in a “minor” wound, and struck her with a steel toe boot before fleeing in a grey Chevy truck. The woman refused EMS treatment.

A 41-year-old man was involved in a physical altercation with his ex-wife on the 3700 block of S. Carrollton Ave. at 11:41PM. He sustained stab wounds and was transported to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown.

At 12:21AM, a black Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound at the intersection of St. Claude Ave. and Alabo St. when a 57-year-old man walked into the roadway. He was struck by the truck, and later brought to the hospital where he died a short time later.

At 1:01AM, a known female was sexually assaulted by a known male on the 2000 block of Canal St.

The MOL recorded an aggravated battery incident on the 2500 block of St. Ann St. at 2:48AM. The victim is unknown, and the incident is still under investigation.

A 36-year-old man and his boyfriend were involved in a verbal altercation that became physical at 5:08AM on the 1000 block of St. Peter St. The boyfriend put a knife to the man, causing six lacerations, before fleeing northbound on St. Peter and then unknown. The victim was transported to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown.
