Overnight Crime Report: Four Rapes, Three Shootings, Armed Robbery, Stabbing, Simple Robbery


The New Orleans Police Department saw ten crimes hit the city on Friday (8.4). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to four rapes, armed robbery, a stabbing, three shootings, and a simple robbery.

 

At 9:03AM, a known juvenile female was sexually assaulted by a known adult male on the 2900 block of Josephine St.

 

At 1:35PM, a known juvenile female was sexually assaulted by a known male on the 5400 block of N. Villere St.

 

At 2:39PM, a known female was sexually assaulted by a known male on the 3100 block of General Meyer Ave.

 

A 79-year-old woman was walking to the door of her residence on the 2200 block of Joseph St. at around 4:37PM when she noticed an unknown male approaching with a “long gun” pointed at her. The subject then ordered the woman to hand over her purse and “don’t say anything,” at which time a brief struggle occurred. The woman’s purse fell, its contents spilling on the ground, and the man grabbed her wallet, cell phone, and makeup pouch before fleeing in a black 2-door sports vehicle.

 

LaRon Lewis was identified as a perpetrator in a stabbing incident on the 3100 block of Law St. At 10:50PM, Lewis and his 41-year-old girlfriend were using drugs together. The woman attempted to walk to the corner store with a male acquaintance and asked Lewis to stay at the current location. Lewis allegedly became angry and lunged at the victim, cutting her. She was brought to a nearby hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

 

NOPD united arrived to the 1400 block of St. Andrew St. at 1:47AM to find a 21-year-old male lying on his back with multiple gunshot wounds. EMS brought him to a local hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

 

At 2:51AM, a 23-year-old woman was at a bar on the 1900 block of Poydras St. and overheard gunshots. She realized she had suffered a graze wound and drove herself to the hospital.

 

A 44-year-old woman stood outside a location on the 3200 block of Baudin St. at 2:58AM and felt an unknown object strike her. She drover herself to a nearby hospital for treatment, at which time she learned she had suffered a gunshot wound.

 

At 3:22AM, a known female was sexually assaulted by a male on the 1700 block of Tchoupitoulas St.

 

A simple robbery occurred at 4:11AM on the 0 block of Canal St. No further information about this incident was published in the MOL.
