Overnight Crime Report: Attempted Armed Robbery, Homicide, Robbery, Carjacking, Stabbing, Two Rapes


The New Orleans Police Department saw sevem crimes hit the city on Wednesday (6.14). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to an attempted armed robbery, a homicide, an aggravated robbery, a carjacking, two rapes, and a stabbing. 

 

At 5:57AM, a 37-year-old man was entering the back door of his work on the 1000 block of Filmore Ave. when a man armed with a box cutter jumped out of the closet. Upon jumping out, the man demanded money. When the victim refused, a fight ensued and he sustained minor cut injuries. As soon as he fell, the perp fled without successfully robbing the man. 

 

NOPD officers arrived to a residence on the 7800 block of Olive St. at 11:11AM and discovered a 21-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. She was pronounced dead on scene. 

 

At 8:57PM, an employee at DeMartino’s Sandwich Shop on the 3900 block of Gen. DeGaulle Dr. was approached by two armed, masked men who forced him inside the shop’s office. The perps took money from the safe, and then fled in an unknown direction. 

 

At the intersection of Forstall and N. Robertson, a 38-year-old man was approached by two men wearing scarves over their faces. At 9:27PM, one of the perps pulled out a gun and forced the man to hand over his car keys. The perps then fled in his vehicle, which was later discovered burned. 

 

At 12:44AM, a 26-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by two men at the intersection of Magazine St. and Napoleon Ave. 

 

Police arrived to the 300 block of Decatur St. to find a woman unresponsive in the middle of the street at 1:17AM. She was found suffering from a stab wound, and later died at a nearby hospital. 

 

At 1:37AM, a woman was sexually assaulted by a man at the intersection of S. Claiborne Ave. and Canal St.
