Overnight Crime Report: Armed Robbery, Stabbing, Purse Snatching

The New Orleans Police Department saw three crimes hit the city on Thursday (5.18). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to an armed robbery, purse snatching, and stabbing.

At 12:22AM, a 58-year-old man was driving down the 2200 block of Lafreniere St. when a car cut in front of him, forcing him to come to a stop. The driver in the other car  got out and approached the 59-year-old’s car, then demanding money and for him to get out of the car. Once the man got out of the car, the perp got in and fled down Lafreniere towards Elysian Fields. The NOPD also listed the 3500 block of Marigny St. in this incident.

A 28-year-old woman and her boyfriend were approached by two men on the 900 block of N. Rampart at 3:11AM. One of the men grabbed her purse, at which time her boyfriend ran after him. When they got to the intersection of St. Phillip and Henriette Delille, the perp pointed a gun in the air and fired a shot.

A 43-year-old man was approached by a man who attempted to rob him on the 1500 block of Tupleo at 3:59AM. The perp pulled out a knife and stabbed the man. The man went to the hospital for treatment, but the MOL did not record his current condition.
