Overnight Crime Report: 7 Shot, 2 Fatally, 2 Unclassified Deaths, Rape, Mugging

The last 24 hours in NOLA were bloody. Two men died in shootings, another two expired from unknown causes, and three other people sustained non-fatal gunshot wounds according to the Major Offense Log (MOL). The New Orleans Police Department (NOPD) also reported a rape and a mugging.

Seven people were shot, two fatally according to the MOL. At 9:50a.m., officers responded to a 911 call from the 8100 block of Paris Road and found an unknown man bleeding out from multiple gunshot wounds according to authorities. He was declared dead on the scene. At 12:58a.m., an officer on patrol in New Orleans East reportedly heard gunshots and rushed to the Crowder Boulevard ramp of I-10 West where he found an unknown man shot to death in the driver’s seat of a Chevy Monte Carlo.

In Hollygrove, four people were shot outside the E&C VIP Lounge (8639 Apple Street) around 9:49p.m. stated the MOL. A spokesperson said that 48-year-old woman and three men, aged 26-year-old, a 33-year-old, and unknown, were in a crowd outside the watering hole when a white car pulled up and opened fire hitting them.

At 1:40p.m. on Friday (5.20), a known male was walking near the intersection of Olive Street and Short Street when he heard gunfire and realized that he was shot stated the NOPD. Because the man was taken to the hospital by a friend, the crime was not logged until 48 hours later.

Police also investigated two unclassified deaths. The Log indicated that at 8:21a.m., a 69-year-old man was discovered dead, slumped over the steering wheel of a car on the 1400 block of Constance Street. On the 500 block of Huntlee Drive, a 68-year-old man was found dead by a friend at 12:22p.m.

A juvenile girl was reported raped on the 4300 block of Magazine Street at 8:58p.m.

At 1:40a.m., a 45-year-old man was allegedly mugged at gunpoint by three teens in hoodies on the 3200 block Vincennes Pl. P/O Staehle. Cops noted that the perps made off with a bac pack and an iPhone.
