Overnight Crime Report: 4 Rapes, 2 Deaths, A Robbery, A Shooting

The Carnival revelry has kept the New Orleans Police Department busy this weekend, with the NOPD responding to eight crimes in the last 24 hours according to the Major Offense Log (MOL). The MOL contained two unclassified deaths, four rapes, a robbery, and an attempted murder.

At 5:59AM, a 54-year-old man was entering his house on the 1200 block of Orange when an armed gunman approached him. The MOL described the perp as aiming the gun at the victim and demanding his wallet. The victim complied, and was not injured.

Police reported that a 30-year-old man was found unresponsive by his girlfriend at 5:47AM. The Department said that upon arrival, officers found the victim dead.

At 8:24AM, police were called to the 2000 of N. Derbigny after receiving reports of a foul odor coming from inside the building. The office found a man dead on the scene from unknown causes.

Police reported that at 12:43AM a perp in a black vehicle drove up to the intersection of  N. Claiborne and Franklin Ave, and opened fire on a 22-year-old male. The victim is listed in good condition.

Four rape cases were recorded in the MOL. An 11-year-old girl reported being raped five years ago in Read Boulevard East. On D’Abadie Street, a 12-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at 12:24AM. Around 8:15PM, a 19-year-old woman was raped by an unknown assailant. The NOLA Police also reported that a 17-year-old girl was assaulted by a known male at the cross of Amelia and St. Charles.
