Overnight Crime Report: 3 Stabbings, 2 Armed Robberies, 3 Rapes, 2 Simple Robberies, 5 Aggravated Robberies


The New Orleans Police Department saw fifteen crimes hit the city on Monday (8.21). According to the Major Offense Log (MOL), the NOPD responded to three stabbings, two armed robberies, three rapes, two simple robberies, and five aggravated robberies. 

 

At 2:40AM, a female subject visited the residence of a 52-year-old man on the 6700 block of Tara Ln. to retrieve unnamed items. The man handed over the items, but after the exchange was complete the woman began banging on the door. The man reopened it, and she struck him with a plastic flower pot. The woman had in her possession a box cutter and also stabbed the man. He was brought to a nearby hospital for treatment. 

 

A 58-year-old woman was walking on the 4700 block of Shalimar Dr. when she was approached by three subjects in a black car at 7:26AM. A woman got out of the front passenger side armed with a knife, and demanded the woman’s property. An unknown man then got out of the driver side and grabbed the victim’s purse, before all subject fled in the vehicle. 

 

At 8:45AM, a 49-year-old woman was sexually assaulted by a known male subject on the 7100 block of Chef Menteur Hwy. 

 

At 12:49PM, an older man entered a Capital One Bank on the 3500 block of St. Charles Ave. He approached the front counter and slid a note to the teller, at which time the teller handed over an “unknown amount” of cash. The perp then fled in an unknown direction. 

 

At the intersection of N. Galvez and St. Ann, a 38-year-old man was approached from behind by a man asking for money at 12:57PM. The man declined, at which time the subject punched him and shoved him to the ground before stealing cash. The perp then fled on foot down N. Galvez toward Dumaine, then unknown. 

 

At 2:07PM, a 21-year-old man was sexually assaulted by an unknown man on the 2000 block of Canal St. 

 

A 16-year-old female was arrested following an aggravated battery incident at the intersection of Dorsett and Wales. At 6:47PM, the teen and her mother returned to the location of a fight she had had with an unknown female earlier that day. The female juvenile then got into a physical fight with an 18-year-old female. The mother then gave her daughter a knife, and the teen perp cut the 18-year-old. She attempted to cut a 14-year-old female on scene as well, but missed. She was arrested on scene. 

 

A 21-year-old woman and 21-year-old man were walking to their car on the 4500 block of Freret St. at 8:53PM when the female noticed the rear window was broken. She also spotted a man sitting in the back seat, and screamed before running off. The perp demanded the male’s property, and fled with his cell phone and wallet. 

 

At the intersection of Almonaster Ave. and N. Prieur St., a 24-year-old man was walking at 9:26PM when three men approached from behind. One of the perps struck him, and a fight broke out. At some point during the altercation, the victim sustained a stab wound. All three perps fled the scene. 

 

At 10:21PM, a 67-year-old man was standing outside of his white Mitsubishi Mirage (LP # YMG 461) on the 1500 block of Marigny St. when an unknown man approached from behind. The subject put a gun to the man’s head and demanded the keys to his car, and fled in the vehicle. 

 

An unknown man entered a Shell Gas Station on the 3000 block of General DeGaulle Dr. at 10:27PM. He demanded money, and the 38-year-old cashier complied. The perp fled with an unspecified amount of cash. 

 

34-year-old Chris Wallace was arrested following an aggravated robbery at the Big Easy Gas and Food on the 2200 block of Canal St. At 10:46PM, Wallace allegedly entered the business armed with a gun and demanded money. The clerk complied and when the perp attempted to flee he dropped some of the money, at which time clerks tackled and subdued him until NOPD officers arrived. 

 

A 31-year-old woman was walking on the 1400 block of N. Prieur St. when two unknown men approached at 10:51PM. One of the perps pointed a firearm at her and ordered that she hand over money. She complied, and the perps fled. 

 

At 1:06AM, a 32-year-old man opened the door to his residence on the 10500 block of Curran Blvd. to find a female acquaintance and two unknown men with bandanas over their faces. The men pulled out weapons, entered his residence, and proceeded to take his property. All three perps then fled in an unknown direction.
