Overnight Crime Report: 2 Rapes, 2 Shootings, Home Invasion

NOLA was plagued by two rapes, two shootings (one fatal), and a home invasion according to the Major Offense Log (MOL) for Monday (5.23) from the New Orleans Police Department (NOPD).

At 9:16a.m., officers responded to a 911 call on the 1200 block of North Robertson Street and discovered a 24-year-old woman bleeding out from gunshot wounds. The victim was rushed to the hospital, but died during treatment stated police.

The MOL included two unrelated two rapes. Police said that a female juvenile was sexually assaulted on the 1400 block of Dwyer Road. A second female juvenile was sexually assaulted by a known woman on the 4800 block of Brittany Court according to authorities.

At 11:36p.m., a 19-year-old man was walking past North Villere Street on Louisa St. when he noticed a “flash and realized that he was shot” reported detectives. A police spokesperson said that the man fell to the pavement and was then shot several more times. However, the victim managed to pull himself off the ground and run to the 3200 block of St. Claude where he called authorities noted the spokesperson. The victim was taken to the hospital and is undergoing treatment.

At 6:34p.m., a 50-year-old woman was sitting in her house on the 1100 block of Chaucer Street when a perp allegedly kicked in her front door and stole 300 dollars in cash. The NOPD explained that the burglar then ran out of the back door and fled in a 1999 white Ford Ranger with Louisiana plate number Y110096.
