Naughty Professor Shares ‘Venison Poetry’

New Orleans-based band Naughty Professor dropped the newest single off of their summer release Identity. Watch the live studio video for “Venison Poetry” featuring local music superstars Mike Dillon and Cliff Hines below.

The six-person funk outfit is in the midst of a majorly successful 2017, with shows at Jazz Fest and headlining venues like Tipitina’s, d.b.a., and The Orpheum. Naughty Professor is currently on a North American tour in support of their latest album. The band is scheduled to perform two shows in their hometown of New Orleans in the coming months: at Lakeshore Landing on September 2nd and at the National Fried Chicken Festival later in the month on September 23rd.

For their fourth record Identity, the guys from Naughty Professor added a diverse roster of collaborators to their signature self-contained, high energy funk-jazz sound. The band enlisted Grammy Award-winning sound engineer and producer Qmillion to mix the album. Local all-stars like Ivan Neville, Cliff Hines, Benny Bloom, Mike Dillon, David Shaw of the Revivalists, and members of the Soul Rebels are just a few of the artists who lended their talents to the new record.

“Venison Poetry” features jazz guitarist Cliff Hines (of his namesake Cliff Hines Band) and percussionist Mike Dillon (of Mike Dillon Band, Les Claypool’s Fancy Band, Primus, Garage A Trois, Dean Ween Band and more) in support. The official video was filmed live at The Parlor Recording Studio in the Irish Channel, where the band recorded Identity.
