Mug Shot: PJ's and Community Coffee Unveil Single Serve Cups

New Orleans’ top coffee competitors, Community Coffee and PJ’s, are taking their bean battle from the counter to the kitchen. Community announced today that they’ve released their new single serve cups, and PJ’s isn’t far behind. They’re rolling out new cups in all 65 of their locations on April 10.

Karat Cups pioneered the trend of providing single sized cups that go with Keurig and other single serving machines. Now, the two brands have caught on to the convenient sipping style. Rather than making an entire pot of coffee for the family, loyal locals can get their coffee one cup at a time. Each cup contains enough grinds for one serving, sealed in a package with a built-in filter.

PJ’s is unveiling their single serve “Carnival Blend” in all Rouses stores on April 15. Make groceries and get a caffeine fix from Mid City (400 N. Carrolton), to the CBD (701 Baronne), to the Quarter (701 Royal), to Uptown (4500 Tchoupitoulas).

According to PJ’s Roastmaster Felton Jones, “The single serve coffee industry has created a unique consumer experience that has gone unchallenged. We want to allow our customers the option to enjoy a cup of PJ’s Coffee anytime, whether it’s a morning at our coffee shop or a quick cup of coffee on-the-go.”

Community Coffee's President and CEO David Belanger released a statement about the new addition. “At Community Coffee Company, we have a personal commitment to provide exceptional products, services and solutions for our customers,” he said.

Customers can get Community's single serve cups in Dark roast, Café special, and Breakfast Blend in participating stores as well as online.

Correction. The article originally stated that CC's, not Community Coffee, was selling "K-Cups."
