Ms. Lauryn Hill Added to Voodoo Fest Lineup

The Voodoo Music Experience will get a miseducation this year. Ms. Lauryn Hill was added to the Halloween music fest's 2014 lineup on Wednesday (8-13), Voodoo announced via social media.

Equally adept at singing and rapping, Hill made her name in the 90s after a stint with The Fugees, then a solo career that was bolstered by her Grammy-winning lone studio release, The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. She played JazzFest in 2011, where she was backed by a large band that included members of the Hot 8 Brass Band.

Since then, she has served time in a Connecticut prison for failing to pay income taxes, and narrated a Swedish documentary about African liberation struggles of the 1960s and 70s called Concerning Violence.

She's back on tour this summer with European dates, and fall American dates seem likely to follow given her Halloween stop in New Orleans.

The Voodoo Music Experience runs Oct. 31-Nov. 2 at City Park's Festival Grounds. Check out the rest of the lineup, which includes Foo Fighters and Outkast, here
