Michael Aaron, Original Rough 7 Member, Memorialized in Bywater FridayTomorrow night, the Bywater faithful will second line an entire block for one of their own. One of the original guitarists of downtown rock gaggle R Scully's Rough 7, Michael Aaron died in December at the age of 49. The former owner of Rock 'n Roll Collectibles on Decatur St. was a noted downtown musician, audiophile and friend to the many who crossed paths with him. To celebrate his life, Aaron will get a full block party on Lesseps St., followed by a midnight second line to BJ's for a performance by the Rough 7.
The block party is centered around a music lineup at Vaughn's that includes Happy Talk Band, Hurray for the Riff Raff, EggYolkJubillee, King James, Paris, Rob Cambre (solo on M.Aaron's lapsteel), Chinese Drywall, BrockNormanBrock and others. Scully writes in this month's Offbeat about Aaron's life and demeanor, making it a little easier to understand why his second line can't go too far, at least in terms of distance. |
