Mayor Mitch Heads East with Ernest Charbonnet

By E.J. Ruane

Mayor Mitch travels to N.O. East today with District E Council Member, Ernest Charbonnet.  Tonight, the representatives will host a Community Meeting at the Greater St. Stephen Full Gospel Church located on Read Blvd.

The recently elected, Charbonnet, serves as the interim council member for District E. As both a federal and state lawyer, Charbonnet’s case history demonstrates protection for the interests and rights of New Orleans residents.

The meeting’s focus is primarily the 2013 budget for the district (which includes New Orleans East and parts of the lower 9thward).  The leaders also outlined goals for the meeting--establishing a citizen driven budget and increasing government performance and accountability.

Before the meeting will be an opportunity for residents of District E to express ideas and concerns for the neighborhood. Various city departments and agencies will be available during the “Resource Center” time starting at 5:30.

The co-hosted, community meeting will follow Resource Center time at 6pm.
