Mardi Gras RevueCarnival 2012 in PhotosThe Season of Do Whatcha Wanna has once again come to a rollicking end, as huge crowds gathered on the Uptown parade route, French Quarter and throughout downtown New Orleans under mostly blue skies to keep Mardi Gras as it should be.
As we feel like we say every year, the 2012 Carnival Season appeared bigger and better than ever, as innovative throws like the Tucks air horns flew off floats along with the toilets, shoes and coconuts to which we've grown accustomed. Memorable appearances by the likes of international stars like Will Ferrell and Cyndi Lauper, and locals like Theresa Andersson - who was spotted during Muses riding a flying swan - gave the proceedings an added panache. And, of course, the people on the streets made the difference. Whether it was some our favorite walking krewes like Chewbacchus, Red Beans and Pussyfooters, or a guy dressed up like a bishop on Fat Tuesday, creativity and the communal spirit reigned over the city once again. On Mardi Gras Day, it appeared the crowds in the French Quarter and Marigny were poised to stay out until the bitter end in an attempt to soak up the gorgeous day.
To recap all the action while you sit in the haze of hangover, take a look at some photos below.
