Magazine Street Stickup Stymied, 4 Arrested

Cops caught up with a quartet of of alleged criminals last night shortly after the youngest among them robbed a group of people on Magazine Street, according to the New Orleans Police Department. About 8:30 p.m., two teens, ages 14 and 15, pointed guns at a group of four adults near the intersection of Louisiana and Magazine, according to police. The pair got a wallet and purse off the victims, but a woman started screaming for help before all the loot was turned over.

The teens then ran off, and climbed into a black Mazda where two men were waiting. The group who were robbed called police, and gave descriptions of the robbers and the car. Police in the area spotted the car and followed it to the 2800 block of S. Claiborne, where all four robbers were arrested.

Devante Claiborne, 20, was driving the car and Devan Stevens, 29, who was the passenger, were arrested for armed robbery along with the two teens, whose names were not released because they are juveniles. Two guns and the stolen wallet and purse were recovered from the car.
