Mad Dad Hits Teen With Truck After Fight at New Orleans High School by Shay Sokol Around 11:30 a.m. today, the father of a female student tried to run over his daughter's alleged boyfriend outside Sojourner Truth Academy, police said. But instead of hitting his daughter’s boyfriend, Paul Amar, 42, drove his pickup truck into the student’s 15-year-old sister, then fled the scene, which is near the corner of Freret and Jena Streets, police said. The girl was transported to the hospital in stable condition. NOPD later arrested Amar on one count of Aggravated Battery and other traffic violations.
Earlier today, school officials called Paul Amar to tell him that his daughter had been in a fight with other students. When Amar arrived at the school, he started arguing with the 18-year-old male student, who was not involved in the earlier altercation between Amar’s daughter and other students. Amar began swearing at the student, and accused him of dating his 15-year-old daughter, according to police. Witnesses watched as Amar jumped into his pickup truck and accelerated at what was described by police as high speed toward the 18-year-old student. Amar barely missed him, but instead hit his 15-year-old sister. The girl fell to the ground, and Amar fled the scene. |
