LPO City Park Concert Postponed, Wednesday at the Square On

Storms mean the swing will have to wait until tomorrow in New Orleans, but the funk is still on. The Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra plans to postpone Wednesday evening's Swing in the Oaks outdoor concert at City Park until Thursday night, but the weekly Wednesday at the Square concert series will go on as planned, according to organizers.

A Wednesday morning storm system brought darkness and a tornado watch over the metro area, throwing plans for outdoor concerts on Wednesday evening in jeopardy.

The LPO concert was postponed due to the threat of severe weather and rain, according to the Orchestra. The concert and webcast, featuring the Marine Corps Band New Orleans and a handful of classical favorites, will now start at 6:30 p.m. on April 25, on City Park's Great Lawn.

Wednesday at the Square plans to carry on their weekly concert, featuring a band made up of Eric McFadden with Bernie Worrell, Luther Dickinson,  Eric Bolivar, and Robert Mercurio. The Dave Jordan Band will open. As ever, the only thunder is expected to come from the stage.

"We do not anticipate inclement weather this evening," event organizers the Young Leadership Council said in a statement.
