Live Music to Plug Back in at Mimi's in the Marigny On the same day Kermit Ruffins gathered community members for a meeting on live music and permitting, the most recent venue to halt their performance calendar was granted repreive by the City. According to City Hall spokesman Ryan Berni, Mimi's in the Marigny is being granted the right to have live music even though their permitting issues haven't been settled.
"They will be able to have live entertainment while the Office of Cultural Economy works with them on their permitting issues," Berni said in an e-mail.
The Marigny bar voluntarily pulled the plug on live music late last week.
"Again, we did not take any enforcement action against them," Berni wrote. "Though much of the media reported otherwise, Mimi's stopped live entertainment voluntarily."
The move means DJ Soul Sister's weekly HUSTLE dance party, and a number of other weekly gigs will return to the corner of Royal and Franklin. |
