Carnival Parades Return to St. Charles Ave. with Oshun, Cleopatra (PHOTOS)

After last weekend's vile beginning in the French Quarter, Carnival parades returned in full splendor to the Uptown-St. Charles Ave. route on Friday (2-21). Photographer Brandon Robert was onhand to capture the Krewe of Oshun and Krewe of Cleopatra.

KREWE OF OSHUN

The Krewe of Oshun was first down the route again, carrying a theme of "Night Out in the Big Easy." The parade featured 19 floats, providing parade goers ample chances to get their hands on the fornight's first loot. Q93's Wild Wayne served as the parade's grand marshal.

KREWE OF CLEOPATRA

The Krewe of Cleopatra once again reclaimed the fertile, folly-filled float-fare of St. Charles Ave. in 2014. The all-female krewe made their move from the West Bank to the Uptown route in 2013, but this year's Super Bowl-free scheduling cemented their reign. With a permanent place, the krewe slowed down the pace of their progression, with a theme of "Strolling Down the Avenue" depicted over 21 floats. This year's queen was Alexandra Breland, while the Jewels of the Nile were Kimberly Huff, Kelley McDermot, Toni Plumer and Mia Hock.

The benevolent riders were joined by bands like the St. Aug Marching 100, Shriners and more.
