krewedelusion Crowns DJ Soul Sister for 2014

DJ Soul Sister is abandoning her vinyl post to reign over the city. krewedelusion announced this morning that Melissa “DJ Soul Sister” Weber will be this year’s ruler, and their parade will roll through the Marigny and French Quarter on February 15.

Downtown krewes are known for their lighthearted approach to Carnival traditions, and krewedelusion takes satire to the extreme. Sub-krewes that joined before January 5 include AlKreweists, Krewe of Bananas, Krewe of Bottom Feeders, Chicken Flockers, F.U.M.A., Krewe of Crustaceous Desire, Guise of Fawkes, Krewe of Goddesses, Krewe du Jieux, Crude Oilusion, Love Spells, Krewe du Sue, Krewe de Muu Muu, The Pony Girls, Krewe of Seuss and, debuting this year, Tap Dat.

The Krewe places the Big Easy as the center of their universe, over which DJ Soul Sister will preside for the coming year.

Queen Melissa “DJ Soul Sister” Weber is inheriting the throne from Cheeky Black, last year’s Queen.

“We are honored,” announced Captain Oscar Diggs in a release, “that New Orleans native and internationally renowned superstar disc jockey Melissa Weber shall be our next Ruler and shall be crowned Soul Sister #1 and Captain of New Orleans.”

The Krewe will roll through the French Quarter and Marigny, beginning at Mardi Gras Zone’s Warehouse, on February 15 around 7:15 p.m.

“Five years after we planted the seeds of revolution, we can now enjoy the fruits of our labor,” said Diggs. “If you ever wanted to start your own satirical krewe, this is the club with which to do it.”

Here's the route for the 2014 parade, from the krewedelusion website.
