Indie music and indie film have emerged as powerhouses in NOLA since the Federal Flood. Now, Indy Racing is trying to join the clique. Today (3.2), organizers of the inaugural 2015 Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana released a packed schedule of racing set for April 10-12.

 

The Grand Prix will include 11 different races spread over three days. Organizers tout marquis events as the Verizon IndyCar Series, Pro Mazda presented by Cooper Tires, Cooper Tires USF2000 powered by Mazda, Cooper Tires Prototype Lites Powered by Mazda, Porsche GT3 Cup Challenge USA by Yokohama and the Mazda MX-5 Cup Presented by BF-Goodrich Tires.

 

“We are very excited and proud of the racing lineup we have development for our inaugural event. We look forward to announcing soon information about our off-track ancillary entertainment that will surely complement our racing schedule and provide a full festival of weekend of entertainment and activities for the entire family,” said Tim Ramsberger, Vice President and General Manager, Indy Grand Prix of Louisiana.

 

The races will be held at the NOLA Motorsports Park in Avondale. The 27.4 mile track boasts 13 turns.

 

Bold faced names scheduled to compete include defending series champion, Will Power; Dancing with the Stars winner and 3-time Indianapolis 500 champion, Helio Castroneves and defending Indianapolis 500 winner, Ryan Hunter-Reay, Sebastien Bourdais, James Hinchcliffe, Marco Andretti and Juan Pablo Montoya.

 

The main event will be held at 2:30p.m. on Sunday (4.12).

 

Single-day tickets are now on sale for race fans and prices range from $15 (Child) to $80 (Adult). The Friday schedule is filled with multiple practice sessions for each series.
