Hurricane Isaac Isaac via satellite (Weather Underground) Isaac's long courtship as a Tropical Storm is over. Around 11:20 a.m., the National Hurricane Center changed the status of Isaac to a Category 1 hurricane. A hurricane hunter aircraft reported winds in the system increased to 75 mph, "finally" push the storm over to a hurricane, the Center said. The storm remians 160 miles Southeast of New Orleans, and 75 miles from the mouth of the Mississippi River. |
