Hotline Sing: Drake & Kraftwerk Coming to NOLA

It’s easy to forget, but music in New Orleans will continue after Fest Season. Today, hip hop artist Drake and electronica pioneers Kraftwerk both announced September shows in the Crescent City.

Kraftwerk is scheduled to stop off at the Orpheum Theater on September 9th. The NOLA visit is part of a nine city tour beginning in Baltimore and ending at the Hollywood Bowl in LA. The shows will feature an avant-garde, David Byrne-esque 3-D video wall.

Kraftwerk is a German band founded in 1970. They played electronic music long before the term “EDM” was coined. Their 1977 album “Trans-Europe Express” is considered a seminal work.

One week earlier, on September 2nd, Drake is planning to stop at the Smoothie King Center. The Canadian hip-hop artist’s new album “Views from the 6” is slated to drop on Friday (4.29). However, the first single off of the album, “Hotline Bling,” is already a runaway success for Cash Money Records.

Future is listed as the opener for evening.
