Honey Badger, Jordan Jefferson, and More Former LSU Football Players Busted With Pot

The Honey Badger is off the LSU Football team, but there was still hope the man born Tyrann Mathieu could turn it around and enter the NFL Draft, or maybe even delight Death Valley again. If he could keep his nose clean, that is. The former Heisman Trophy finalist was once again busted for drugs. This time, it wasn't the fake stuff, and three other former LSU Tigers, including Jordan Jefferson, went down with him. The scene unraveled at Mathieu's campus-adjacent apartment Thursday afternoon.

About 3:30 p.m., former Tigers QB Jordan Jefferson was allegedly trying to force his way through a security gate at an apartment complex, according to a Baton Rouge police report. A maintenance worker noticed Jefferson trying to get in, and confronted him. The two then exchanged words, according to the report. Police were called, but Jefferson was let into the apartment complex. Police then went up to Mathieu's apartment. Police officers smelled the odor of marijuana, and got Mathieu's permission to search the apartment. Former LSU safeties Derrick Bryant and Karnell Hatcher were also in the apartment.

Police found a marijuana grinder, a digital scale and 10 bags of "high grade" marijuana - 7 of which were in Bryant's bag - in the apartment, accoridng to the report. Mathieu and Jefferson were booked on possession. Bryant and Hatcher were also busted, and Bryant was charged with intent to distribute marijuana. The quartet will be booked into East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

Since being kicked off the team for what is widely rumored to be testing positive for synthetic pot, the 20-year-old Honey Badger has allowed that early fame got the better of him. Especially during last year's season, the defensive back captiavated the state with his consistent propensity for game-changing plays, penchant for cocky showmanship and, of course, the potent meme crossover-hair combo.

However, Mathieu couldn't shake off-the-field issues. After undergoing rehab in Texas in September, Mathieu decided to take the season off of football, and re-enrolled at LSU to focus on his studies. From there, many said he could enter the NFL Draft, but the latest arrest leaves a huge question mark over his future.

Jefferson had his trials at LSU, too. The former starting QB was infamously arrested after allegedly kicking a man in the face during a fight outside Shady's Bar in Baton Rouge before the start of the 2011 season. Police seized 49 pairs of Jefferson's shoes, but the incident was later called "a whole scam."
