Grub Crawl Offers Locals the TV Foodie Treatment

From Bourdain to Zimmern to those guys who appeared on Treme, we've seen enough of our favorite TV personalities get special treatment at this town's top food and drink spots. Another national food institution is descending on New Orleans this weekend, but this time they're letting locals in on the VIP access. Bon Appétit and Belvedere Vodka are set to host a 3-day Grub Crawl this weekend in New Orleans to showcase the city’s top chefs and mixologists, from Besh to Bodenheimer to Boswell. To top it off there's a Saturday night concert for attendees only. Here's the full lineup:

The Grub Crawl will kick off tomorrow with a private brunch (noon-2:30pm) at August where participating chefs will gather to try August’s first liquid-nitrogen cocktail and an ice cream, Belvedere spiked milk shake. After, grub crawlers will tour the Warehouse District’s food scene at the American Sector, Mike’s On The Avenue, Hotel Modern and Borgne. The American Sector’s Soda Shop will serve family-style smoky lamb ribs, shrimp in a cup, mini bologna and chow chow sandwiches, spiked milkshakes and Sector Soda Spritzers. At the Hotel Modern, Bellocq will mix old-style cobbler cocktails served over crushed ice and citruses, as Tamarind will offer French-Vietnamese bites. Full listing for Friday’s crawl.

On Saturday, tour the French Quarter at Domenica, Sylvain, Stanley, Stella!, Napoleon House and end the day with a concert at The Joy Theater with Swedish-born, New Orleans-based soul singer Theresa Andersson and up-and-coming San Diego band, Mrs. Magician. Domenica will serve pizzas and affetati platters of salumi, cheese, olives and savory beignets. Sylvain will have crispy pork shoulder, grits, pickled collards and Liam Deegan’s beer cocktails. Stanley will serve Breaux Bridge Benedicts with house-made boudin, poached egg, American cheese, smoked ham and Creole hollandaise served on toasted French bread. Stella! will serve open-face egg salad sandwiches with toasted brioche, American caviar, dill, and crème fraiche. Full listing for Saturday’s crawl.

On Sunday, tour the Garden District at La Petite Grocery, Lilette, Bouligny Tavern, La Divina Gelateria, and Apolline. At Lilette, a seated tasting will showcase chef and owner John Harris’ favorites, including anchovy basil onion bruschetta, raw crudo and braised short ribs. Bouligny Tavern will serve burrata bruschetta, gourmet pigs in a blanket, devilled eggs, gougéres, ceviche and paired cocktails. At Apolline, Jenny Smith will create her signature Champagne cocktail, “Bend that Elbow,” which includes Hum liquor, lime juice, and sparkling rose. Chef Matt Farmer will demonstrate his corn maque choux with seared scallops. Full listing for Sunday’s crawl.

Now, that you're mouth is watering, time to see about the check. A weekend pass is $199. Friday only (6:00-10:00pm, 4 stops) is $69. Saturday only (4:00-9:00pm, 5 stops) is $99, which includes the concert at the Joy Theater (9:00-11:00pm) with an open bar of Belvedere cocktails. Sunday only (11:30am-3:30pm, 5 stops) is $79. Order tickets here.

Earlier this month, the Grub Crawl in Brooklyn, NY was sold out with 150 guests per day experiencing new restaurants and learning how to spin spirits. Chat with chefs as they serve up their most popular dishes, and wash it all down during cocktail demonstrations. The Grub Crawl will continue on to Los Angeles in July 13-15.
