Fight Grounds Flight in New Orleans Two Southwest Airlines passengers tested the limits of freedom to move about the country this morning, and lost. A flight en route to Las Vegas from Fort Lauderdale was diverted to MSY after what amounted to a fistfight broke out on the plane, FBI Special Agent Kyle Harnahan said.
Shortly after 7:30 a.m., the Southwest Airlines flight landed at Louis Armstrong International Airport, and the FBI arrested Fafane Daniel 32, for her involvement in the altercation, said Special Agent Kyle Harnahan. The other person involved in the fight was not arrested, Harnahan said.
Harnahan said there were no injuries in the incident, and any determination of the cause of the fight would be "speculation" at this point.
Daniel was charged with assault and interfering with the flight crew. She was scheduled to make her first appearance before a U.S. Magistrate Judge this afternoon. U.S. Attorney Jim Letten's office will handle prosecution.
