FBI Agent Kills Man at Motel 6


Updated 8:45 p.m.

Agents swarmed a Motel 6 in New Orleans East on Tuesday afternoon, where an FBI agent reportedly killed a person while on duty. Authorities were called to the the hotel, located near the corner of I-10 Service Rd. and Bullard Ave., just before 2:30 p.m., according to NOPD spokesman, officer Garry Flot.

 

The call went out as a signal "108" from a police dispatcher, meaning an officer's life was in danger. 

 

Later, FBI spokeswoman Mary-Beth Romig Haskins confirmed that a Bureau agent shot and killed a 30-year-old man. 

 

The shooting came amid an investigation involving drug-related activity, Haskins said. The agent was part of a FBI task force assigned to the area.

 

No further information was released on the case.

 

The investigation into the incident is being led by the FBI, including both the Bureau's Washington, D.C.-based inspection division, and the local office. The Louisiana State Police is managing the scene, and the NOPD is also assisting, Haskins said.
