NOLA's Global Party Welcomes Pierre Thomas

New Orleanians are usually satisfied with a charity pub crawl or crawfish boil, but tonight's event at the Eiffel Society (2040 St. Charles Avenue) is for fancy philanthropists. The local installment of the Global Party is on tonight starting at 8pm, one of more than 80 parties, held in 120+ cities, in a 24-hour period.

Hosted by the Eiffel Society, this year’s proceeds will benefit the Global Trust and the iCAN Foundation. Admission requires a minimum $20 "donation" and can be purchased at the door. Cocktail attire is required.

The Del Mar Global Trust (DMGT), one of the event’s recipients, is a private charity that focuses on the ‘big picture’ when taking on environmental issues. The foundation highlights public education, natural resource management, female reproductive health, and population growth in their quest to better the environment.

The other beneficiary is the iCAN Foundation, founded by New Orleans Saints' RB, Pierre Thomas, in response to the ongoing issue with childhood obesity. It was established in 2012 as a public charity to prevent and educate about the ongoing and rising issues of childhood obesity in the United States.

The event is sponsored by Moet Chandon & Belvedere Vodka who will be pouring out the complimentary Moet until it runs out. A cash bar will also be available to which a percentage of sales will go toward the iCAN Foundation. The first hour’s entertainment will be supplied by the Dominic Minix Jazz Quartet with a live set by DJ G Cue following. There will also be a silent auction to take place with items provided by the iCAN foundation, New Orleans Saints, artists, and others.
