Drew Brees Smites Roger Goodell For Bounty Bashing

Drew Brees was all over the tubes this morning, and it's not to hang with boy bands or hawk soda. The Saints QB took to the airwaves to take it to Roger Goodell. Breesus let loose with his thoughts about Bountygate on the NFL Network, accusing the NFL commissioner of not having airtight sources. He said the Black and Gold players plan to prolong the bounty saga with appeals of their new suspensions.

"It seems like so much of his suspensions have been based upon speculation and rhetoric and maybe the testimony of some pretty unreliable sources," Brees said. "So that’s the unfortunate thing — it seems like his decision changes quite a bit and at least the reasoning behind what his decision is. So that is the disappointing part of it for all of us.”

Goodell is coming in for a new round of slagging after re-suspending Saints defenders Jon Vilma and Will Smith this week. Former Saints Scott Fujita and Anthony Hargove were also re-punished for their alleged roles in Bountygate. Yesterday, Fujita took the commissioner to task for his handling of the whole situation. The Browns linebacker appears to have passed the torch to Breesus today.

On ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning, Brees called the whole Bountygate saga "a big sham."

“The fact that our coaches are suspended for part of the year or the entire year is pretty ridiculous," he said.
