Defiled RideKrewe Du Vieux in PhotosMARIGNY - Krewe du Vieux's annual romp through downtown New Orleans is once again complete. Other than counting down until next year, we're spending the morning (Wait..is it already afternoon?) after trying to shake visions of giant penises and Republicans in uncompromising positions.
Every float was worthy of a mention for some reason or another, but special mention goes to whoever rigged up those skeletons knocking bones on the "TSA: The Good Hands People" float, and the dreamers who envisioned Bobby Jindal pulling Sarah Palin's sleigh in the "Idiotarod." In a year that could've been all oil, the subkrewes - for perhaps the first time in history - can be credited with restraint. They spread the themes around, throwing in a little Landrieu here, a little graft there. And, as ever, there was giant sperm on poles. We sent photographer Kat Arnold to capture the night so we could look back on it until next year. The slideshow below shows the night through her lens.
