Decadence Daily: 9.1.17

Southern Decadence is kicking off its latest round of feathers, leather, boas, and glittter. Get started this Friday in thw Qaurter with a strip show on Bourbon Street or dance party on the lower Decatur drag. Venture across Elysian Fields into the Marigny to check out the famed lube wrestling at the Allways, or travel up to Freret to see an LGBTQ positive variety show. Click through for details.

Taste the Rainbow (Gasa Gasa, 9PM)

This LGBTQ variety show is a coming-together of all forms of artistry. On the lineup, several of the city's top drag queens, musicians, burlesque artists, and more are scheduled to take the stage. Headliners Sea Battle, a NOLA-based experimental pop group, will then take the stage to top of the night's festivities.

Midnight Mass (Santos, 10PM)

High Profile, a performance art collective founded by drag royalty Jassy, Garlic Junior, and Visqueen, will help all Decadence revelers atone for their sins — or maybe commit some new ones — at Midnight Mass. Come dressed in your holiest of threads and dance with altar boys, make a confession, and sip on The Body and Blood of Christ (the cocktail du joir, of course). Music will be supplied by DJ Soraya, and expect performances from the High Profile founders as well as Danny Girl, Brandy Bonet, and a special appearance by H.I.M.

Boys on Parade (The Bourbon Pub / Parade, 10PM)

The legendary Quarter watering hole will host the "best damn amateur strip night of Decadence." Come one, come all and see dudes take it all off. Hosts Ivy Dripp and Aubrey Sinclaire will lead the evening, which will also feature live sets from DJ Whitney Day all night long.

Jock Strap Lube Wrestling (Allways Lounge, 11PM)

Neon Burgundy is back with the wildest event on the St. Claude drag. Less-than-dressed hopefuls vie for top prizes (including $250 cash, bar tab, or drg queen merch) by squaring off in the kiddie pool of lubricant. Music will be provided by DJ Matt Scott, with appearances by The Moon Baby and Queen Latina.
