Cross-Dressing Crook Collared After Mushroom Heist, Lookout Still on the LooseDressing as a woman didn't help one of the men who robbed one of Tulane's favorite record stores. One half of the duo who allegedly robbed The Mushroom over the weekend was arrested today, according to police. Adonus Harris, 25, was picked up by the NOPD Violent Offenders Squad today after being pegged as a suspect, according to a statement from the Department's Second District. Harris, clad in a wig and black dress, entered The Mushroom in the 1000 block of Broadway about 10 p.m. Friday, and forced the clerk to open the shop's safe.
Police said Harris held a gun underneath the black dress and pushed it into the clerk's waistband, forcing the worker toward the safe. The other suspect, who has not been captured and was not dressed in drag, acted as a lookout. The pair fled the shop with more than $2,000 in cash.
The other suspect is described as a black male, light complexion, approximately 5’08 tall, wearing dark jeans and a dark shirt, with a bandana around his face.
