Tailgate Missing: 2:15am, 4800 block of Banks St. Tailgate missing from rear of a parked truck.

 

Man Arrested After Choking Girlfriend: 11:13pm, 3900 block of Gibson St. A 27-year-old man was arrested for hitting and choking his girlfriend during an argument.

 

Armed Robbery in the French Quarter: 11:30pm, 100 block of N. Rampart St. The victim, a 31-year-old man, was walking when he was approached by two unknown black males. One suspect produced a handgun, while the second suspect demanded the victim’s property. The victim complied. The two perps got in a car driven by a third black male. They fled with the victim’s cell phone, wallet and cash on N. Rampart toward Esplanade, then unknown. The vehicle is described as a white older model sedan.

 

Aggravated Rape: 11:40pm, Canal St and S. Carrollton Ave. In Mid-City, the victim, a 13-year-old boy, was approached by an unknown 18-year-old male, who sexually assaulted the victim.

Carjacking: 2:22am, 3200 block of Gentilly Blvd. In Gentilly Terrace, the two victims – a 36-year-old woman and a 38-year-old woman – were parked at the Petro Serve gas station when the perp approached them with a gun. He demanded the victims’ 2005 white Mazda. The victims complied. The perp, Tre Edwards, 18, was later arrested.

 

Unclassified Death: 5:38am, 2100 block of North Broad St. The victim’s mother returned to the residence and found her son, a 54-year-old man, unresponsive. EMS responded to the scene and pronounced him dead. The victim had no known medical illnesses.

 

Theft at St. Anthony of Padua Church: 10:20am, 4600 block of Canal St. Religious artifacts were missing from the church after mass.

 

Four Kids Burglarize School: 6:26pm, 3100 block of St. Bernard Ave. Officers responded to an alarm at a school. Four juveniles were taken into custody.

 

Shooting in the Seventh Ward: 9:52pm, 1800 block of N. Galvez St. The victim, a 23-year-old male, heard gunshots and realized he had been shot in the leg. The victim was transported to the hospital with a non-life threatening injury.

 

Shooting in Central City: 10:12pm, 2000 block of Second Street. Shots were fired in the area by two to three black males. One victim, a 32-year-old woman, was shot twice in the shoulder. Another victim, an 18-year-old woman, was shot in the foot. Both were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Shooting in Central City: 4:13am, Willow and Third Streets. The victim, a 36-year-old male, was sitting on his stoop talking with a female when an unknown male armed with a handgun fired shots, striking the victim in the abdomen. The victim was transported to the hospital.

 

iPhone Snatching in the French Quarter: 4:35am, 300 block of Bourbon St. The victim, a 32-year-old man, was walking when he was approached by the suspect. The suspect grabbed the victim’s phone from his hand, then fled on foot. Officers observed the incident and apprehended the suspect, Roy Cryer, 19.

 

Armed Robbery in the French Quarter: 4:45am, 900 block of Burgundy St. The victim, a 51-year-old woman, was walking when she was approached by an unknown suspect. The suspect struck the victim, knocking her to the ground. The suspect then grabbed the victim’s purse from her grasp and fled.

 

Armed Robbery in the French Quarter: 5:45am, 1000 block of Ursulines. The victim, a 22-year-old woman, was walking when she was approached by an unknown male. The suspect produced a knife and demanded the victim’s purse. The victim complied. The suspect fled on foot on Ursulines toward N. Rampart St., then unknown.

 

Repair and Run: 10:00am, 5800 block of Chef Menteur Hwy. A man was arrested after trying to flee without paying for vehicle maintenance.

 

Armed Robbery: 1:59pm, 14400 block of Peltier Dr. The victim, a 47-year-old man, was walking in a parking lot in New Orleans East when three unknown black males approached him. The perps struck the victim over the head with a gun, then went through his pockets. The subjects fled with his wallet, containing his driver’s license, green card and cash.

 

Armed Robbery in the French Quarter: 4:45pm, 900 block of Burgundy Street. The victim was walking in broad daylight when she was struck in the back of the head. She fell unconscious. When she awoke, her wallet was missing from her purse. The suspect was caught on surveillance footage following the victim moments before the robbery.

 

iPhone Snatching in the French Quarter: 10:00pm, 700 block of St. Ann. The victim was walking when he was approached by an unknown black male and black female. The male suspect asked the victim for the time, then grabbed the victim’s iPhone from his grasp and fled with the other suspect on foot.

Armed Robbery: 1:30pm, Franklin Ave and Jasmine St. The victim, a 19-year-old male, was walking in Gentilly Terrace when an unknown black male jumped out of the passenger side of a black car. The subject, wearing a ski mask and carrying a gun, told the victim, “Don’t move.” The subject went through the victim’s pockets and took his cell phone, wallet and pills, then fled.

 

Fatality on the Interstate: 9:30pm, I-10 West near the Read Boulevard exit. The victim, a 31-year-old man, was traveling westbound in a gray 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck when, for reasons unknown, struck a beige 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier. The Silverado spun out of control. The 25-year-old driver of the Cavalier then pulled over into the emergency lane on the right side of the interstate; the 31-year-old driver of the Silverado pulled over into the emergency lane on the left side of the interstate. The 31-year-old got out of his car and crossed the interstate on foot to check on the driver of the Cavalier. As the 31-year-old walked back across the interstate to his vehicle, he was struck by a red Mazda, driven by a 24-year-old female. After the man was struck, the driver of the Mazda tried to stop when a red 2008 Chevrolet HHR, driver by a 17-year-old male, struck the Mazda in the rear. The 31-year-old man died on the scene. The 24-year-old female suffered minor injuries and was transported to the hospital. Blood and alcohol tests are pending.

 

Armed Robbery at Shell Gas Station: 11:06pm, 6300 Elysian Fields Ave. Two suspects entered the gas station, approached the cashier with guns drawn and demanded money. The incident was caught on surveillance footage. One suspect, described as a 200 pound black man with two t-shirts wrapped around his face, had a snub-nose revolver. The second suspect, described as wearing cut-off blue jean shorts and a black neck warmer around his face, had a black semi-auto handgun. The cashier complied and handed the perps approximately $500 from both registers.  The two suspects fled the gas station, heading southbound on Elysian Fields, then unknown.

 

Murder in Central City: 11:50pm, 1300 block of South Saratoga Street. The victim, a 21-year-old man, was sitting on his stoop when an unknown subject approached him and opened fire. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds to his body and was taken to the hospital, where he died the next morning.

Multiple Car Burglaries: 12:15pm, 2800 block of Franklin Ave. An employee at Lot Enterprises, located on the block, called the cops after noticing several cars were broken into.

 

Murder in Hollygrove: 12:55pm, 8300 block of Palmetto Street. The victim, a 27-year-old man, was leaving his apartment (Palmetto Street Apartments) to run errands when he was gunned down. One police report says the victim was shot multiple times to his body. Another police report says the victim was shot in the head. He died on the staircase.

 

Unclassified Death: 1:59pm, 1100 block of Kerlerec St. An unknown person reported that the victim, a 26-year-old man, was inside of an abandoned building on the second floor. Responding officers found the victim unresponsive.

 

Murder in Gert Town: 5:55pm, 7900 block of Olive Street. The victim, a 24-year-old man, was found dead in the street from multiple gunshot wounds. A 19-year-old female was shot in her leg, and was transported to the hospital in stable condition. One police report says a group of individuals, possibly with dreadlocks, were seen fleeing the area on foot. Another police report says a black male on a bicycle opened fire. The male victim tried to run but fell. The perp stood over him and shot the victim several times.

 

Attempted Rape: 9:30pm, 4600 block of Bonita Drive. The victim, a local woman, accepted a ride from the suspect when she was walking near the corner of North Claiborne and Esplanade. The suspect told the victim he would take her to get something to eat, but that he first needed to stop at a house in the 4600 block of Bonita Drive in New Orleans East to check on some renovations he had been working on. When they arrived, the suspect parked behind the house, grabbed the victim, partially disrobed her and said he “wanted sex.” The victim managed to fight off the suspect, and ran screaming into the street for help. A neighbor heard the screams, saw the woman outside, soon provided clothes for her and called the police. The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 30-years-old, missing a tooth in the front of his mouth. His vehicle is believed to be an olive green Chevrolet Trailblazer with heavy body damage to the entire left side.

Armed Robbery: 4:07am, N. Rampart and St. Ferdinand. The victim, a 29-year-old male, was walking in the Marigny Rectangle when he was approached by an unknown black male, armed with a silver revolver. When the perp demanded the victim’s property, the victim turned to run away. But another black male approached him and ordered the victim to comply. The victim held up his hands as the second perp went through his pockets. The perps fled with the victim’s cell phone, wallet and cash.

 

Shooting in Gentilly Terrace: 8:48am, Eads St. and Filmore Ave. The victim, a 21-year-old man, was driving a maroon Mercury Sable when possibly two unknown males opened fire on him. The victim was struck multiple times. He proceeded to drive approximately 3 blocks before crashing through a fence in the 2500 block of Dreux Ave. The victim was transported to the hospital where he later died.

 

Unclassified Death: 5:37pm, Poland and N. Rampart St. An unknown man was found dead on the railroad tracks after getting hit by a train.

 

Stabbing in Central City: 9:09pm, Second and Dryades. The victim, a 47-year-old woman, was talking to a man who asked how much money shad had, and would she give him some. The victim said no. The man went inside, grabbed a knife, came back out and stabbed the victim in the chest. She was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening wounds.

 

Carjacking: 10:10pm, 2100 block of State St. In Uptown near Tulane University, both victims – a 72-year-old man and a 68-year-old woman – were struck by two unknown black males, whom approached the victims from the side. The elderly victims were robbed at gunpoint and forced to give up their keys. The suspects fled in the vicitms’ 2003 Toyota Highlander.

Armed Robbery: 2:55pm, 3500 block of Timber Bluff Ln. The victim, a 55-year-old man, was approached by two unknown black males. One of the suspects pistol-whipped the victim on the side of the face and demanded his money. The victim complied. The perps fled with the victim’s wallet and cash.

 

Armed Robbery: 6:57pm, 1100 block of Crete St. The first victim, a 27-year-old man, arrived at his residence and got out of his car. The car was still running as two unknown black males approached the victim and escorted him to the first bedroom inside of the house. There, the perps took the vicitm’s money. The perp then approached the second victim, a 23-year-old man, in the second bedroom. The perps took the second victim’s money and car keys to his 2012 blue Dodge Charger. The perps fled.

Murder in Gentilly: 12:54am, 5900 block of Lafaye Street. Ricky Russell, 26, entered a group home in Gentilly, to which he was a former resident. He and the caretaker, a 74-year-old woman, had an ongoing argument. Russell hit her head with an air condition window unit, then tied a plastic bag over the victim’s head. The woman expired on the scene. For reasons unknown, Russell took the woman’s car and drove it into Lake Pontchartrain near Franklin Ave and Lakeshore Drive. A Levee Board Officer spotted Russell wet from the lake while walking on Lakeshore Drive. The officer stopped Russell for questioning. Russell immediately confessed to the murder.

 

Armed Robbery of Brother’s Service Station: 3:35am, 6100 block of St. Claude Ave. A black male entered the business with a handgun and demanded cash from the cashier. The cashier complied. The perp fled on foot with the cash.

 

Aggravated Rape: 5:03am, 1000 block of Loyola. The victim is a 19-year-old woman. No gist, as the Sex Crimes Division handles the investigation.
