Shooting in Gert Town: 2:03am, 3400 block of S. Carrollton Ave. The 18-year-old male victim was walking when an unknown male approached him from behind, armed with a handgun. As the victim started running, the perp fired several shots at the victim. The victim was shot in the left leg and ankle.

 

Throat Cut in New Orleans East: 2:06am, Chef Menteur Hwy and Downman Road. The 21-year-old female victim went to home of the arrested subject, 20-year-old Naydja Banks, where an altercation ensued. Banks pulled out a small pocket knife and cut the victim’s throat. The victim was taken to the hospital via private conveyance.

 

UNO Campo Hit by Car: 12:46pm, 2000 Lakeshore Drive. A UNO campus police officer was struck by a vehicle on the University’s campus while attempting to stop the vehicle from fleeing. The officer was transported to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was later identified and an arrest is pending.

 

Drive-by in St. Roch: Mandeville and N. Derbigny. A dark vehicle pulled up and opened fire on the two 17-year-old male victims. One of the victims was shot in the face, the other in the leg. Both victims are listed in stable condition at the hospital.

 

Pizza Delivery Guy Robbed in Little Woods: 8:15pm, 7800 block of Lacombe Street. A Papa John’s delivery guy was delivering pizza in New Orleans East when an unknown black male with a camouflage wide-brim hat, extra large white t-shirt and a chrome plate revolver approached him from behind. The subject ordered the victim put the pizza on the ground and empty his pockets. The victim complied.

Murder in Seventh Ward: 12:00am, 2000 block of Marais. Officers responded to shots fired in the area and, upon arrival, found the 49-year-old male victim suffering from two gunshot wounds to the head. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced shortly thereafter.

 

Stabbing in Mid-City: 12:51am, 500 block of S. Jefferson Davis Pkwy. Officers responded to a call of a stabbing and, upon arrival, found the 54-year-old victim suffering from stab wounds to the body. He was transported to the hospital where he underwent surgery. The victim refused to give the suspect’s information to the officers.

 

Stabbing in Tulane-Gravier: 3:30pm, Bienville and N. Johnson. The 51-year-old male victim was approached by an unknown black male. The suspect produced a weapon and stabbed the victim several times. The victim was transported to the hospital in stable condition.

iPhone Snatching in French Quarter: 1:30am, Bourbon and Orleans. The 26-year-old female victim was walking when she was approached by an unknown black male. The suspect grabbed the victim’s iPhone from her hand and fled on foot on Bourbon toward Esplanade. The suspect is described as 5’10”-5’11”, thin build, short hair, wearing a maroon t-shirt.

 

Purse Snatching in French Quarter: 1:32am, 1000 block of Conti. The 47-year-old female victim was walking when she was approached by an unknown black male. The suspect grabbed the victim’s purse and, after a brief struggle, pulled the purse from her grasp. The suspect fled on foot on Conti toward Bourbon. He is described as 5’09”, medium build, wearing a white shirt.

 

Unclassified Death in St. Claude: 9:57am, 1200 block of Congress Street. The complainant states he last spoke to the 43-year-old female victim at approximately 7:00pm the night before. He states he arrived at her residence around 7:00am and found that she was still in bed, appearing to have been asleep. He left the location and returned around 9:45am to find the woman still in bed. He shook her and found that she was cold to the touch.

 

Unclassified Death: 11:36am, 300 block of Twelfth Street. The 62-year-old male victim was doing yard work outside his home, where he was later found down in the driveway.

 

Murder in Gentilly Terrace: 3:50pm, 2700 block of Verbena Street. Officers arrived on the scene and found the 60-year-old male victim in the driver’s seat of a Dodge Caravan with multiple gunshot wounds to the head. The victim was pronounced by EMS. There were no witnesses.

 

Triple Murder in Seventh Ward: 4:15pm, 1900 block of Old Prieur Street. Upon arrival, officers found the three victims – a 58-year-old woman, a 28-year-old woman and a 26-year-old man – shot to death inside their home.

 

Murder in St. Claude: 9:38pm, 3715 N. Villere. Several gunshots were fired in the area. The 23-year-old male victim was found lying on the ground face up. The victim was pronounced dead on the scene.

 

 

Saturday, July 28, 2012

 

Street Robbers in French Quarter Nabbed: 5:30am, 800 block of Dumaine. The victims were walking when they were approached by five males. The suspects struck the victims, then grabbed the victims’ cell phones from their pockets. The suspects then fled in a white Dodge Durango. Four of the suspects were identified and arrested: 21-year-old Kendall Robichaux, 18-year-old Rashee Darby and two 16-year-old juveniles. 

 

Overdose in Le Petit Motel: 11:42am, 2836 Tulane Avenue. Officers arrived to find the 36-year-old male victim inside a motel room, face down and on his knees. He was dead. Officers found a syringe, spoon, and cigarette lighter inside the room.

 

Unclassified Death: 1:45pm, Briarheath and East Barrington. Police responded to a report of a male down in New Orleans East. Upon arrival, officers found the victim, an unknown male, dead in the grass.

 

One Armed Robber Nabbed in Lower Ninth Ward: 8:23pm, Dauphine and Jourdan Avenue. Two victims were fishing on the levee when they were approached by two black males on bicycles. The suspects, one armed with a gun, demanded the victims’ wallets and keys, to which the victims complied. The suspects fled westbound on St. Claude. Shortly afterward, responding officers apprehended one of the suspects, a 16-year-old juvenile.

Armed Robbery in Mid-City: 12:05am, 3400 block of Cleveland. The male victim was getting out of his car when he was approached by five unknown black males. One of the suspects had a chrome revolver and demanded money from the victim. The victim struggled with the perps as the armed perp went through his pockets.

 

Shooting in New Orleans East: 1:23am, 14700 block of Chef Menteur Hwy. The 28-year-old male victim was standing outside the residence when several shots were fired in the area. The victim was hit in the arm, and taken to the hospital.

 

Armed Robbery in French Quarter: 7:01am, 900 block of Bienville Street. The male victim was approached by three unknown black males engaging him in conversation. One of the subjects produced a chrome revolver, then went through the victim’s pockets. The subjects fled with the victim’s cash, credit cards and a cell phone.

 

Armed Robbery in CBD: 10:44am, Common and Carondelet. The 49-year-old male victim was approached by an unknown black male armed with a gun. The suspect demanded money, to which the victim complied. The suspect fled with the victim’s cash and cell phone.

 

Cutting in Treme: 12:06pm, 1000 N. Rocheblave Street. The victims – a 56-year-old man and a 24-year-old woman – were involved in an argument with the perpetrator. The perp cut one of the victims and assaulted the other, then fled the scene.

 

Suicide by Hanging in Bywater: 1:03pm, 4200 block of Burgundy Street. A neighbor discovered the 46-year-old male victim in the rear yard, suspended from a rope around his neck.

 

Fatal Motorcycle Accident: 4:44pm, N. Murat and Canal. The 33-year-old male victim was hit by a car while driving his motorcycle. He was transported to the hospital where he expired.

 

 

Monday, July 30, 2012

 

Unclassified Death: 8:02am, 6200 block of Waldo Drive. The 23-year-old male victim had been drinking heavily the night before. His friend last saw the victim outside smoking a cigarette around 2:00am. When the friend went back outside around 7:15am, he found the victim lying on the sidewalk unresponsive.

 

Car Burglary in Lake Shore: 10:40am, Beauregard Avenue and Lakeshore Drive. The rear driver’s side window of a parked car was smashed; a purse was taken.

 

Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Gun Arrest: Olive and South Carrollton. Officers initiated a traffic stop, where the passenger was in possession of a .40-cal Smith & Wesson. The gun was in his waistband upon exiting the vehicle. Officers conducted a check on the gun, which came back as stolen from an auto-burglary in the 1100 block of Jena in May, 2012. The arrested subject was also in possession of marijuana and was booked accordingly. The arrested subject is Jonathan Smith, 21.

 

Armed Robbery of Milano’s Clothing Store: 3:12pm, 2100 block of North Claiborne. An unknown black male entered the store demanding money. The 23-year-old male cashier complied, giving the subject cash from the register and the safe.

 

Shooting in Bayou St. John: 5:51pm, 3100 block of Toulouse. The 28-year-old male victim was sitting on his porch when shots were fired. He sustained a gunshot wound to the upper right thigh. He was taken to the hospital in good condition.

 

Car Burglary in Lake Shore: 6:20pm, Cameo Street and Sapphire Street. The rear passenger’s side window of a parked car was smashed; a purse was taken.

 

Car Burglary in Lake Shore: 7:08pm, 100 block of Robert E Lee Blvd. The front passenger’s side window of a parked car was smashed; a purse was taken.

 

Car Burglary in Lake Shore: 7:10pm, Lakeshore Drive and Rail Street. The driver’s side window of a parked car was smashed; a wallet, ring and iPhone were taken.

 

Car Burglary in Lake Shore: 7:20pm, 100 block of Robert E Lee Blvd. A wallet and iPhone were taken from a parked car. There were no signs of forced entry.

 

Car Burglary in Lake Shore: 7:20pm, 100 block of Robert E Lee Blvd. The rear passenger’s side window of a parked car was smashed; a purse was taken.

 

Car Burglary in Lake Shore: 7:20pm, Beauregard Avenue and Lakeshore Drive. The rear driver’s side window of a parked car was smashed; a laptop computer, wallet and ring were taken.

 

Knife Fight in Desire: 7:39pm, 3800 block of Ursula Spencer Way. A 17-year-old female victim and another female victim got into a fight with several unknown females. One of the subjects produced a kitchen knife and stabbed the victims, then fled. The 17-year-old female victim was stabbed in the right buttocks. The other female victim was stabbed to the lower right back.

 

Woman Wanted After Big Fight in Gert Town: 8:10pm, 7100 block of Forshey. The victim and the wanted subject, 21-year-old Geranisha Robertson, were involved in a fight. After the fight ended, the victim left the scene on foot. Robertson got in her car and followed the victim, trying to instigate another altercation. The victim refused to fight. Robertson then attempted to hit the victim with her vehicle. The victim climbed onto a fence to avoid getting hit, but Robertson hit the fence with her car, causing the victim to fall onto the vehicle injured. The victim then notified the police and EMS for treatment. A warrant was issued for Robertson’s arrest.

 

Car Burglary in Lake Shore: 8:30pm, Beauregard Avenue and Lakeshore Drive. The front passenger-side window of a parked car was smashed; two cell phones, two rings and keys were taken.

 

Carjacking on Esplanade: 9:34pm, Burgundy and Esplanade. The 46-year-old female victim was walking in the 1300 block of Burgundy when she was approached by an unknown black male, 18-23-years-old, 5’06”, thin build, wearing a white tank top and khaki shorts. The suspect produced a handgun and demanded all of the victim’s property. The victim did not comply, so the suspect struck the victim, knocking her to the ground. The suspect took the victim’s property and vehicle, a grey Honda Element, license plate OMJ569. The perp fled in the victim’s vehicle toward Canal.

 

Machete Mugging: 9:54pm, 2600 block of Frankfort Street. The two victims – a 51-year-old woman and a 16-year-old male – were walking when they were approached from behind by two masked black males, one armed with a machete and the other with a handgun. The perps demanded the victim’s property, to which they complied. The perps fled the scene with the woman’s purse and the teen’s cell phone.

Manicure Mooch: 2:00pm, 4720 block of Paris Ave. A woman left the Golden Nail salon without fully paying for the services she received.

 

Murder in Algiers: 4:29pm, 1800 block of Shirely Drive. The male victim was walking when a black male in a silver car pulled alongside the victim and opened fire. The victim fell to the ground. The subject got out of the car, stood over the victim and shot him again.

 

Attempted Simple Robbery and Arrest in Garden District: 5:50pm, 1200 block of Washington. The male victim was walking home from work when he was approached by a man demanding his money. The victim ran, yelling for help. The perp fled in a silver Impala. Minutes later, officers patrolling the Irish Channel stopped the car on Chippewa and Soraparu. The driver, 20-year-old Willie McEleven, was identified as the robber. He was charged with attempted simple robbery.

 

Cutting Under the Ponchartrain Expressway: 9:34pm, Calliope and Oretha C Haley Blvd. The male victim was involved in a verbal altercation with an unknown black female, when she cut the victim on the left shoulder. The victim was treated at the hospital.

 

Shooting in Central City: 9:59pm, Delachaise and S. Robertson. The male victim was standing at the intersection when he heard several gunshots in the area. He tried running to his residence in the 2600 block of Delachaise, but while running, he realized he was shot in the right arm and had a graze wound above his right eye. The victim was taken to the hospital in stable condition.

 

Domino’s Pizza Delivery Stick-Up in New Orleans East: 11:43pm, 7639 Devine Ave. The delivery driver arrived at the location when a black male approached him, armed with a handgun. The perp demanded the three pizzas and a drink, valued at $53.20. The delivery guy complied. The perp fled on foot with the food.

Armed Robbery at Subway: 9:24am, Franklin and Claiborne. An unknown black male entered Subway, produced a handgun and demanded money from the 23-year-old female employee. The employee complied. The perp fled on foot with the cash.

 

Suicide: 12:52pm, East Canal Road and Highway 406. A motorist discovered the victim, an unknown white male, inside a vehicle with a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

 

Shooting on Westbank: 11:56pm, 5200 block of Timber Crest. The 18-year-old male victim was walking home and heard several gunshots fired in the area. The victim began running and collapsed in the doorway of his residence. The victim had sustained gunshot wounds to both legs. He was treated at the hospital.
