Councilmember Cantrell Gives Toys as Mrs. Claus

Carnival and Christmas come together this afternoon at Mardi Gras World (1380 Port of New Orleans Place), at the Grand Oaks Mansion. District B Councilmember LaToya Cantrell partnered with Orleans Shoring to give 100 children gifts for the season.

Today until 4 p.m., Cantrell will be spreading holiday cheer through giving and costuming. The councilmember threatened to dress as Mrs. Claus, with her Director of Constituent Services, Julius Feltus, donned in “jolly old elf” attire.

Orleans Shoring donated over $10,000 to Christmas presents for families suffering through financial hardship, according to Cantrell’s release.

“Orleans Shoring wanted to bring a little Christmas joy for some District B kids, so we went ahead and reached out to schools and other organizations to help choose the children,” said Cantrell. “The company then went shopping and wrapped all of these presents—that’s some true Christmas spirit in action.”
