Fire Destroys Deck at New Orleans' Highest Point in City Park

Someone went to the top New Orleans' highest mountain, and decided they wanted to keep the view for themselves. City Park officials put a missive out today that they're on the lookout for vandals who set fire to the deck at the top of Laborde Mountain - the highest point in the New Orleans metro area. According to the message, City Park Police belive the fire was set sometime between between 8 p.m. on Friday, April 27 and 5 am Saturday, April 28th.

The deck, which gives tired hikers a chance to catch their breath and enjoy the view after scaling up to the unthinkable elevation of 45 ft. above sea level, was destroyed as a result of the fire, and the Park hasn't decided if it will be replaced.

The Park is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who set the fire. Contact City Park Police Chief Billy Bayle at (504) 421-9307 or they can email John Hopper at jhopper@nocp.org with any leads.

That's so wrong, it was such

That's so wrong, it was such a pretty and unique place to find peace. It was beautiful. That's so sad. I hope the arsons get hit by trucks and survive within a painful existence.

i wish i knew who it was,

i wish i knew who it was, because i'd snitch for free!
