Candidates Sound Off Tuesday at IWO Forum

Candidates vying for local offices are all signed up for the Feb. 1 elections. Now comes the weigh-in. On Tuesday, Jan. 7, the International Women's Organization is set to sponsor what figures to be the first of many public forums involving the local political hopefuls.

The IWO event begins at 6 p.m. at the ILA office building (601 Louisiana Ave.). WDSU anchor Camille Whitworth is set to moderate the forum, which aims to provide the public with information on the candidates and their stances on local issues.

Candidates for all of the seats up for election, including mayor, Orleans Parish Sheriff, Orleans Parish Coroner, all seven City Council seats and Clerk of Criminal District Court are invited to attend. The event is also open to the public.

For a complete list of candidates, see NoDef's past coverage.
