Shooting in Pines Village: 1:45am, Chef Menteur Hwy and Downman. In New Orleans East, unknown subjects were shooting at each other when the male victim, a bystander in the fray, was shot in the left side. The victim was taken to the hospital by private conveyance.
Home Burglary in Gentilly Terrace: 10:30am, 5100 block of St. Roch Ave. The side door of a residence was forced open; taken were a video game console and a laptop computer.
Armed Robbery in Seventh Ward: 9:29pm, New Orleans and N. Tonti. The victims, a 40-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man, were approached by two unknown males demanding their purse and money. The victims complied; the perpetrators fled.

Construction Site Stripped, Recovered: 7:00am, 5000 block of Press Drive. A Bobcat, auger and utility trailer were taken from a construction site. The equipment was located and recovered in the 4900 block of Pauline Drive.
Shooting in Little Woods: 3:00pm, 8400 block of Curran. The 24-year-old male victim was walking in New Orleans East when an unknown black male, 5’10” with dreadlocks, got out of an older model red Acura. The suspect shot the victim in his left knee. The victim was transported to the hospital by private conveyance.
Armed Robbery of Advance Auto Parts: 8:26pm, 7323 Chef Menteur Hwy. In New Orleans East, a black male entered the business armed with a handgun. He demanded one cashier to lie on the floor and another employee to open the safe. The suspect fled with an unknown amount of money.
Purse Snatching in Freret Neighborhood: 9:40pm, 2200 block of Soniat Street. The victim was walking when an unknown black male ran up and struck the victim several times. The perp took her purse and fled. The perp is described as 6’ in height, medium build, weighing approximately 190lbs.
Cutting in West Lake Forest: 10:07pm, 6700 block of Tara Lane. In New Orleans East, the 21-year-old male victim and the 47-year-old male perpetrator got in a fight. The perp pulled out a blade and cut the victim on the right hand, forearm and shoulder. The victim was transported to the hospital in good condition.

Pet Store Thief: 10:11am, 4702 Paris Avenue. A warrant was issued for the arrest of a 43-year-old man for a theft at McFaith Feed and Pet Supplies.
Auto Zone Robber Wanted: 4801 South Claiborne Avenue. The suspect entered Auto Zone, produced a handgun and demanded money from the cash register. After the sales associate complied, the suspect left the business with an undetermined amount of cash and fled westbound on South Claiborne Ave, then unknown. In surveillance video obtained by detectives, the suspect is a black male, approximately 170-180lbs., about 6’0”, thin build and dark complexion, and a black bandana covering his face. Police believe the suspect also robbed Auto Zone on July 7, 2012.
Shooting in Lower Garden District: 6:51pm, 700 block of Adele Street. The male victim was shot in the back.

Drive-By Shooting in Gentilly Terrace: 12:00am, 3800 block of Gentilly Blvd. The victim was walking when she saw a black vehicle shooting at another car, during which she was struck in the knee by a stray bullet. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
Car Accident Leaves 8-year-old Boy Dead: 11:00pm, I-10 West and Morrison Road. The 27-year-old male driver of the 4-door black GMC SUV was traveling westbound on I-10, took the Morrison Road off ramp and, for reasons unknown, hit the curve. The driver lost control, causing the SUV to flip over multiple times. The driver and the 8-year-old boy were ejected from the vehicle. The 8-year-old was pronounced dead on the scene. The driver and three other passengers were listed in critical condition at the hospital. A toxicology test will be conducted.
Kitchen Burglary: 1:50pm, 1300 block of Prentiss Avenue. A range, microwave, refrigerator and dishwasher were taken from a vacant home. No signs of forced entry.
Shooting in Desire: 4:50pm, 4200 block of Old Gentilly Road. The victim was washing his car when he heard several gunshots and ran for cover. The victim heard several more gunshots, then felt a pain in his buttocks where he realized he had been shot. The victim was driven to the hospital by an acquaintance for treatment.
Family Reunion Thief: 7:00pm, 5200 block of St. Bernard Avenue. A large amount of jewelry and a camcorder were discovered missing from a residence after a family function at the home. There were no signs of forced entry.

iPhone Snatching in French Quarter: 12:45am, 500 block of Dauphine Street. The victim was walking when she was approached by an unknown black male. The suspect grabbed the vicitm’s iPhone from her hand and fled on foot. The perp is described as 22-25 years of age, 5’09”, medium build, short hair, wearing a white t-shirt and grey sweat pants.
Shooting in St. Claude: 11:47am, France and N. Villere Streets. The female victim was standing in the area when an unknown black male with a shirt tied around his face approached the victim and opened fire. After she fell, the gunman stood over the victim and shot her several more times. The perp fled the scene.
Car Burglary in St. Roch: 5:15pm, 2200 block of St. Roch Ave. Two unknown males seized the opportunity of opening the unlocked driver’s side door of a parked Chebrolet pickup truck. As one of the suspects stood lookout, the other rummaged through the truck. The owner of the truck was cutting grass at his nearby residence when a neighbor alerted him. The victim rushed to his truck, only to find his laoded handgun was missing. Both suspects fled the area on foot. The incident was caught on video surveillance.
Unclassified Death: 11:23pm, 3213 Bienville, Apartment #C. A friend found the male victim lying on his living room floor.
Double Murder in Milneburg: 11:43pm, 6212 Painters Street. Several shots were fired in the area. A 26-year-old man was shot in the chest and a 22-year-old man was shot in the head. Both were taken to the hospital where they expired.

Rape in St. Roch: 12:33am, 2900 block of Music Street. An aggravated rape was reported; the incident was investigated by the Special Victim’s Unit.
Man Walks Dog, Gets Robbed: 10:15am, Calhoun and South Robertson Streets. The victim was walking his dog in the University area with his iPod headphones in his ears when he saw an unknown black male ride a weathered black cruiser bicycle past him. As the victim continued to walk, paying no further mind, he was grabbed on the arm from behind and spun around to see the bicyclist holding a small knife. The victim was cut on the arm. The suspect said, “Gimme your wallet.” The victim threw it to the ground. The perp picked up the wallet and fled on his bicycle up Calhoun, turning east onto S. Robertson, then unknown. The victim described the perp as in his early 30s, thin build, approximately 5’8”, bald with a beard.
Armed Robbery of Shell Gas Station: 8:51pm, 3101 South Carrolton Ave. A black male entered the gas station with a rag over his face and demanded money from the cashier. The victim complied. The perp fled on foot.

Robbery, Implied Weapon in CBD: 12:30am, 400 block of Gravier. The 27-year-old male victim was walking when he was approached by an unknown black male. The suspect held his hand under his shirt, implying he had a weapon, and demanded money. The suspect then struck the victim and removed cash from the victim’s pockets. The suspect fled on a bicycle. NOPD detectives developed a lead and positively identified the suspect, Jasper Mitchell, 21. A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
Unclassified Death of a Baby: 1:58pm, 3000 block of Pauger Street. The father found his 3-month old baby girl unresponsive in a pan of water. The cause is under investigation.
Cutting in New Orleans East: 2:06pm, S. Bunker Hill and Salem Drive. The two victims were standing on the corner when a blue-colored sedan pulled up to them. An unknown black male got out of the back seat of the car. The subject and the 20-year-old male victim began arguing, at which point the perp pulled out a blade and cut the victim. The second victim, an 18-year-old female, was cut while trying to wrestle the knife from the subject. The subject fled.
Purse Snatching in French Quarter: 4:10pm, 1000 block of Barracks. An unknown black male snatched an 81-year-old woman’s purse from her grasp and ran on Burgundy toward Norht Rampart. The suspect is described as 5’10”-6’0”, short hair, all-dark clothing.

Shooting in Gert Town: 2:03am, 3400 block of S. Carrollton Ave. The 18-year-old male victim was walking when an unknown male approached him from behind, armed with a handgun. As the victim started running, the perp fired several shots at the victim. The victim was shot in the left leg and ankle.
UNO Campo Hit by Car: 12:46pm, 2000 Lakeshore Drive. A UNO campus police officer was struck by a vehicle on the University’s campus while attempting to stop the vehicle from fleeing. The officer was transported to the hospital. The driver of the vehicle was later identified and an arrest is pending.
Home Burglary for Dinner & Movie Setup: 3:15pm, 2700 block of Mithra Street. The window of a residence was broken; taken were a television, DVD player and canned food.
Five Juveniles Shoplift: 4:53pm, 4800 block of Chef Menteur Hwy. Five black male juveniles took clothing from a store in New Orleans East without paying.
Drive-by in St. Roch: Mandeville and N. Derbigny. A dark vehicle pulled up and opened fire on the two 17-year-old male victims. One of the victims was shot in the face, the other in the leg. Both victims are listed in stable condition at the hospital.
Pizza Delivery Guy Robbed in Little Woods: 8:15pm, 7800 block of Lacombe Street. A Papa John’s delivery guy was delivering pizza in New Orleans East when an unknown black male with a camouflage wide-brim hat, extra large white t-shirt and a chrome plate revolver approached him from behind. The subject ordered the victim put the pizza on the ground and empty his pockets. The victim complied.
