Bikes and Booze on Thursday's City Council Agenda.jpeg) On Thursday morning, it's time once again for the City Council to gather to carry out the people's business. As ever in New Orleans, that means matters involving alcohol and places to leave your transportation while consuming alcohol. The Council will consider whether to allow alcohol at a variety of new spots, and they'll hear an appeal that may bring more bike racks to the French Quarter.
When a proposal by the Young Leadership Council to build bike racks in the French Quarter was denied, many locals were frustrated. Now they'll get a chance to change that because of an appeal to the denial.
Also on the agenda: alcohol. The Council will decide whether to allow a cocktail lounge at 2805 St. Claude Ave. They will also rule on an alcohol permit for the new Dat Dog on Magazine St., the CBD reception hall The Cannery, and the Toulouse Gourmet Catering in Mid-City. Elsewhere, an unnamed fast food restaurant is requesting a zoning change on the 2100 block of S. Claiborne Ave., but the spot will have to offer more than super size, as they face a city recommendation to deny.
A holdover item that would create new permits for vendors at second line is also on the agenda, but it is unknown whether the Council plans to take up the measure tomorrow.
