Big Easy Roller Girls Tear Down Tornado Alley (PHOTOS)

Photos and Article by Brandon Robert

The Big Easy Rollergirls had their season opener last night at the UNO Performance Center.  The Crescent Wenches played a hard fought bout against the Hub City Derby Dames Southern Misfits but ultimately lost with a final score of 122 – 176.  The second bout was between Big Easy AllStars and the Oklahoma City Roller Derby Tornado Alley Rollergirls.  Led by Captain Coalminer’s Slaughter, Big Easy dominated most of the game and won with a final score of 232 – 152.

This season introduces new derby rules that provide for faster paced games with even more action.  Special guest former New Orleans Saints player, Steve Gleason, made an appearance and half of proceeds from the night’s raffle went to the Team Gleason organization.
