Bassik Party Cuts a Fine Figure for 2-Year Anniversary Figure by Dan Goodman Locally grown Winter Circle Productions' monthly bass-fueled concert series BASSIK is back this week to celebrate its two year anniversary at the Republic Thursday night. It was this time a few years ago that the now vibrant sect of electronic music known as dubstep began to bud in the Big Easy. Dubstep is now a household name in mainstream music. Facilitating the movement, BASSIK has consistently brought worldwide talent of the highest caliber to an intimate setting with stellar production.
To ring in the celebration, WCP is bringing back Buku all-star Figure, who plays the grimiest of bass music and is sure to bring the grit. Although the artist, real name Josh Curd, is well versed in any genre of EDM, Figure as of late is synonymous with dark beats turning into memorable performances. Also joining the bill is AC Slater. A more well rounded producer, Slater relies primarily on electro synths and heavy bass, but spans genres with these elements. Not always in the crutch of dubstep, AC Slater continues to create cutting-edge music like future bass while stile paying homage to his earlier electrohouse days.
Between the well balanced bill of quality talent, a laser show amongst other production plans, and the consistently big party atmosphere BASSIK carries, this anniversary party is surely to be an over-the-top and memorable celebration. This special event in the Big Easy is surely to be one to remembered and certainly one to be heard. |
