Anne Rice Announces Plans to Return to NOLA As our spooky city counts down to Halloween, occult author Anne Rice is becoming increasingly nostalgic for the “ghosts, spirits, vampires, and witches,” of her hometown. In a post on her Facebook from 5pm last night, she tells fans that she’s in the market for a new pied a terre in New Orleans, using a little crowd sourcing to get fans to help her find a new place to roost.
Rice will keep her main house in Palm Desert as well as her rental property in Los Angeles, and she wants her next residence to be in the Quarter. “I want to swap my huge luxury condo on the Florida Gulf Coast for a French Quarter townhouse or condo of comparable value.” The woman behind The Vampire Chronicles says she is anxious to meander through the historic streets of Jackson Square, awaiting sightings of “Lestat and Louis roaming the Rue Royale.”
Although Rice isn’t interested in making New Orleans her permanent home, she says she needs to have a base of operations for eating breakfast at Café Du Monde, oyster Po Boys at Acme, and dinner at Mr. B’s.
