NoDef’s Rundown of New Orleans Fashion Week
New Orleans Fashion Week (NOFW) returns for its seventh season this week, bringing the most cutting-edge designers, retailers, models, photographers, and stylists from across the gulf region to New Orleans. Running March 18-24, the weeklong celebration will feature over 50 runway shows, a variety of fashion-focused panel discussions, and of course, more than a few glittering parties.
The official NOFW kick off party will take place Saturday (3.18) at the W Hotel in the French Quarter. Partygoers can mingle with models and designers as they celebrate the most fashionable week of the year with cocktails and dancing.
The W Hotel will also play host to the special fashion edition the global speaker series WHAT SHE SAID. NOFW Founder and Creative Director Tracee Dundas will moderate a ladies-only panel discussion from fashion professionals and influencers like boutique owner Hattie Moll, actress and film producer Shanna Forrestall, and jewelry designer Reagan Charleston. Attendees will also enjoy a cocktail reception with light snacks and shopping, as well as a musical performance by Robin Barnes.
Wednesday (3.22) will see the Top Design Competition take place at the Civic Theatre. Designers Brittany Henderson, Itchel Spears, Jamie Rogers, Jane Elizabeth Gressaffa, Kiyada Upshaw, Mary Virginia Ayres, Mimi Holaday, Sakeenah Ashiru, Victoria Cleveland, Viviana de la Rosa, and Victoria Henley will compete for the Top Designer title.
Local children will also get a chance to strut around in the latest fashions on Sunday's (3.19) Kids Runway Day, with proceeds from the event benefiting the Louisiana SPCA.
