3 Ways to Help NOLA Defender in the Wake of Last Week's Burglary on Burgundy

Fallout continues from last week's burglary at NOLA Defender headquarters. Despite immediate access to iPhone tracking technology that showed the location of the staff's computers, phones, and assorted electronic goods that were stolen, police have yet to act on the case. As of Monday afternoon, NOPD has yet to assign a detective to the case. But even if police don't want to take an opportunity to help, readers can. Click through to see three ways to help us keep producing the site:

In addition to the computers, the thieves took a collection of external hard drives that contained everything from vital tax information to personal writings and photographs. They even took the XBox! We may be more productive without the video games, but the loss of our laptops is proving to be a difficult hurdle in the operation of an online publication.

In the wake of the burglary, we need to replace 2 new laptops, 3 new phones, hard drives and finance a new on-site fileserver to keep the paper growing.

We have been fortunate enough to receive several offers of help, some from far flung Defenders in New York, Chicago and cities all over the US. Below are a few different ways that you can help us - right here, right now - to stay the course.

(1) Make an online donation. Literally, every dollar counts; $5 or $10
will go a long way in helping us replace what we lost and lay the groundwork
for our next steps. If you love what you read here, kick us a little lagniappe
so we can keep it coming.

(Please note that you can use a credit or debit card or a PayPal account to donate.)

(2) Come to "Night(s) Out for NoDef"

At Blue Nile on Tuesday, March 20 at 7pm, come enjoy music by Honey Island Swamp Band and Helen Gillet plus a silent auction featuring art by Susan Gisleson, Zack Jacobs and more. $10 cover.

At The New Movement Theatre (1919 Burgundy) on Sunday March 25 at 8pm. NoDef Editor B.E. Mintz is the star in a special edition of The New Movement's  "Megaphone Show" where improvisers invite a special guest up on stage to share a few  of their favorite true stories.  The improvisers use details of these stories to inspire fast, smart improv comedy. We'll also raffle off a BIG EXCITING THING. $10 cover.

Thanks! Caesar's Total Rewards has offered Nola Defender financial/material support in exchange for  helping raise awareness for their "Escape to Total Rewards" campaign. So, you and all of your friends clicking it on different devices helps us out.

If you are a Total Rewards member at Harrah's or any of the 40 participating casinos and resorts, you're already earning points that you can redeem for deals at restaurants, hotels, concerts and more.

Are you accepting equipment

Are you accepting equipment donations? I can easily scrounge a surplus external hard drive, probably lots of other stuff too.

Very sorry to hear that. This

Very sorry to hear that. This goes to show just how worthless NOPD really is.

Yall should post the location

Yall should post the location that the computers and phone were taken to...
