Buckwheat Zydeco Looks Homeward

Buckwheat Zydeco was a little tired when he answered the phone from a hotel room in Eastern Kentucky. The accordion great said that he spends close to ten months a year on the road, moving from gig to gig. When he realized that the call was about a Louisiana fest, he sprang to life. “Oh! You’re calling from home!”

Beyond the Bird

Thanksgiving Events in NOLA

Turkey Day is about much more than turkey. Food is paramount in New Orleans, but so is music, football, decorations, and of course the track. Locals (Not) to Watch For at the Grammy Awards

Thanks to a few categories (anything related to jazz and blues) that local musicians happen to have a particular aptitutde for, and another one that was designed exclusively for Louisiana music (Best Zydeco/Cajun album), odds are pretty high that someone on the French Quarter Fest bill will win a Grammy. But, that doesn't mean it's our night to shine, as most of these awards are handed out before the network TV portion of the annual music industry bonanza even begins. Nevertheless, thanks to the Internet, fans can watch the pre-telecast of the more subdued pre-network show. We'll bring updates on the winners as we get them from the Grammy overlords.
