Today in NOLA 9.5.17

This Tuesday, grab a pipin’ hot piece of pizza pie for a great cause, enjoy the musical stylings of Jeff Taylor at Gasa Gasa, or pay tribute to the cult works of David Lynch and Tobe Hooper at film screenings around town. On this day in 1983, the Pontchartrain Beach officially closed. Now, more to do today.

Today in NOLA 4.30.17

Stormy weather has affected day three of Jazz Fest, with festivalgoers having to wait until the afternoon to Lorde, Tom Petty & The Heartbreaker, Dr. John and the dozens more acts on the lineup today. Still, for those not up to brave Fair Grounds, there is plenty to do around town. A Lord of the Rings burlesque show will come to Eiffel Society. Blato Zlato performs their swamp Balkan tunes, while Helen Gillet will improv a soundtrack to Belgian avant garde films. Maple Leaf will host a crawfish boil and NOLA all-stars. On this day in 1803, The Louisiana Purchase Treaty was signed. Now, more to do this Sunday.
