Before the Barbecue: Memorial Day Weekend Events

By Lucy Leonard

The weather this Memorial Day weekend (5.22-5.25) might seem hott, but this line-up of events is even hotter. New Orleans offers a myriad of activities spanning from rememberance to volleyball to help spice up this holiday weekend.

CBD Business Burglary Binge

NOLA’s glazers were busy this weekend. Six establishments had to replace windows after a Central Business District (CBD) burglary binge in the early hours of Saturday (11.22) morning. Four of the businesses will also be replacing their cash registers, but one thief learned that the tills are emptied before the shops lock up for the night.

The Dogs (& Pigeons) of War

The World War II Museum is opening their latest exhibit this week... "Loyal Forces: The Animals of WWII." The exhibit tell harrowing tales of carrier pigeons and telegraph cable running dogs. Also, prominently featured is the Coast Guard and their extensive use of... horses... to patrol the ocean? The more things change, the more they stay the same.
