World Trade Center Negotiations Fall Through

Negotiations between the City and a developer to turn the World Trade Center into a W have fallen down, according to Mayor Mitch's office. Even after being selected during a very public bidding process last summer, Gatehouse Capital couldn't reach a deal with the City to revamp the high-rise at the foot of Canal St.

After Round 1, the three proposals for New Orleans’ World Trade Center are still equal in the eyes of the City's RFP selection committee, as the ranking process has been postponed until July 30. Locals put in their two cents at City Hall during a public forum on Tuesday morning. The public debate centered in on an important consideration for the committee sizing up the three proposals: Should the World Trade Center stay up or come down?
